Raymond Curtis Thomas age 92 passed on March 23, 2005 in his home at 812 Walnut Street in Clovis. Raymond was born Nov. 9, 1912 in Crowell TX. brbrIn 1916, he and his family came through Clovis in a covered wagon on their way to the Estancia Valley, where his father, Ollie Thomas, had filed on a homestead. In 1923, they moved back in to Clovis where Raymond lived out his life. He worked as Forman of the Railways Ice Plant until after WWII when he went to work at Cannon AFB as heating and cooling superintendent until his retirement. He and companion Ruby Willett played and sang in most, if not all, of the nursing homes in the area after his retirement. He was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church in PortalesbrbrHe was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie Thomas and Elsie Boren, wife Betty Aston, bro. Troy Martin Thomas and sisters Lois Graham and FlossieGentry. He will be missed by bros. David L. Thomas of Santee CA. Jimmy Rex Thomas of Slaton, TX., and his sisters Eula Ellis of Denver CO. and Nola Belew of Alamogordo, NM. Others include his 6 nieces and ll nephews.brbrGraveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis. Arrangements are being handled by Steed Todd Funeral Home.
