Services for Richard Darrell Baker, 64, of Alba, Texas are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 16 at 10:30 am at Parkland Baptist Church in Clovis with Dr. Herbert Bergstrom and Rev. Doug Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.

Darrell was born November 25, 1942 in Clovis, New Mexico and died on February 11, 2007 at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, Texas. He is survived by one son, Dwayne Baker and wife Kim, Buda, Texas, one daughter Cindy Baker and husband Jackie Green, Louisville, Kentucky and three grandchildren, Dillon and Chance Baker and Jack Baker-Green. Also surviving is his mother, Mildred Baker, and one brother, Dennis Baker, both of Clovis and one sister, Darla Blair and husband Keith, of Alba, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Archie Baker.

Darrell lived most of his young life in the Ranchvale Community and graduated from Clovis High School in 1960. He married Sharon Moore in 1961. He attended West Texas State University and Texas AM receiving a bachelor of science in agronomy, a masters in plant physiology and a doctorate in plant physiology. He was later employed by New Mexico State University College of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service as an extension agronomist where he worked for 26 years and retired August 1, 2003.

Darrell was a member of Parkland Baptist Church for many years where be served as a deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He is currently a member of First Baptist Church, Alba, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Del Blair, Ken Donahue, Cameron Burnett., Buddy Bennett, Floyd McAlister, Mike English, Carl Hahn, and Jim Tidenberg. The family will be at 2121 Northglen. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, February 15.
