Richard Norris

alignjustify Richard Dick Norris, Retired USAF Major, was born February 3, 1939 to Llewellyn K. and Evalyn Monk Norris in Iowa City, Iowa. He died June 25, 2007 at Plains Regional Medical Center.

alignjustify Dick graduated from City High School in Iowa City and went on to obtain his juris doctorate from the University of Iowa. He served in the USAF from 1965 1985 as a staff judge advocate. He was a Vietnam veteran whose other tours included Dow AFB, Maine, Bitburg, Germany, Maxwell AFB, Alabama, Thailand, Randolph AFB, Texas, Norton AFB, California and Cannon AFB, NM. He belonged to several AF organizations. During the course of his military career he received several awards including the Bronze Star, meritorious service and commendation medals.

alignjustify In 1980, he married Audrey Hexum in San Antonio, TX. They were both assigned to Cannon AFB, NM, liked the area, and so made Clovis their home.

alignjustify He was an avid sports fan. He raced radio control boats for several years. He enjoyed car races, especially the Indy Racing League, where his friend owned a car and allowed him to get a close-up view of the track action. He loved cars and trucks and was in the process of building a 33 Ford panel delivery truck. He was an avid reader, particularly histories of WWII and Vietnam.

alignjustify Survivors include his wife, Audrey of the home; two sons, Bradford Jane Norris of Centreville, VA, and Brent Norris of San Antonio, TX; one daughter, Andrea Norris of San Antonio, TX; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; aunt; cousins; in-laws, Loryn Alice Stelter of Lynd, MN; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

alignjustify Services will be held at Steed-Todd Chapel on Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Bonita Knox officiating. Interment will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in St. Paul, Minnesota.
