Richard Ortiz

Richard Ortiz, 47, of Texico, New Mexico, died Friday, April 3, 2009, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He was born April 14, 1961 in Clovis, New Mexico to Anacleto Paula Parra Ortiz.

He was a lifelong resident of Clovis Texico. He worked in the oilfields and also worked for Excel. He was a member of San Jose Catholic Church in Texico, New Mexico.

He is survived by 5 brothers, Anacleto Ortiz Jr. and Frank Ortiz both of Texico, Teddy Ortiz of Dodge City, Kansas, Jimmy Ortiz of Houston, Texas, and David Ortiz of El Paso, Texas; 4 sisters, Alicia Jones of Dodge City, Kansas, Rose Ortiz of Houston, Texas, Norma Williams of Texico and Elicia Hill of Grants, New Mexico; 3 step brothers Manuel, Simon Pico of Mexico; 1 step sister Rachael Hernandez of Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Thomas and 1 sister, Hope.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Ortiz, Chad Orman, Adam Ortiz, Jake Williams, Jerry Askew, Thomas Ortiz and Terry Robinson.

A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Steed-Todd Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2009, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Sotero Sena as celebrant. Burial will follow at Texico Cemetery.
