Robbie Thompkins

Robbie Lee Thompkins, 94, Saturday, December 13, 2008 at the Farwell Convalescent Center in Farwell, TX. She was born on February 7, 1914, in Hollene, NM, to Tom and Cora Vaughn who had homesteaded in the Hollene community in 1908.

On December 23, 1933, she and Earl Thompkins were married. To them were born three daughters, Sandra, Sharon, and Tanya. Together they lived and farmed in the Hollene community until they moved to Clovis, NM in 1964. In June, 2005, she moved to Las Cruces, NM, to live with Sharon and Loyd Cain.

Robbie was a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, friend. She was much loved by those whose lives she touched. She was completely devoted to her family and nothing was more important to her. She enjoyed nothing better than a visit from family members and friends. She will be remembered because of her love, caring attitude, positive and nurturing spirit, and frugal ways. She was just simply an amazing person.

She is survived by her daughters Sharon Cain and husband Loyd of Las Cruces Tanya Bennett and husband Joe of Texico, NM; her sister Lela Stockton of Clovis, her eight grandchildren Rusty Rucker of Clovis, Terry Rucker of Denver, CO, Schree Mayfield of Texico, Tasha Roberts of Clovis, Lisa Irwin of Indianapolis, IN, Becky Schiff of Tucson, AZ, Stacy Nolasco of Madison, WI, Holly Burgin of Kansas City, MO; seventeen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Earl; daughter Sandra Rucker; five brothers and two sisters.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2008, at First United Methodist Church, 1501 Sycamore, Clovis, NM, with Rev. Harry Riser officiating. Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.

Casket bearers will be Johnnie Rucker, Rusty Rucker, Terry Rucker, Charlie Stockton, Byron Mayfield, Dave Schiff and John Nolasco.

The family will be at 1913 Sycamore. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Farwell Convalescent Center, P. O. Box 890, Farwell, TX 79325.
