Robert Baker Jr.

Robert Lex Baker Jr., 82, of Clovis, New Mexico, died Thursday, September 21, 2006 at his home in Clovis, New Mexico. He was born July 27, 1924 in House, New Mexico.

Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lex Baker Sr. and Maggie Rosella Hopper; 2 sisters, Lois Fay Baker Lennie Mae Woollums; 1 brother, James William Baker and grandson, Wesley Wayne Baker. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee of the home; daughter, Bobbie Loflin Fulks her husband Bobby of Clovis, New Mexico; son, Ron Baker his wife Joyce of Clovis; sisters, Billie Jean Hamer of Slaton, Texas and Betty Lee Wilton of Fort Sumner, New Mexico and grandchildren, Mark Loflin his wife Quila of St. Louis, Missouri, Wayde Loflin his wife Jennifer of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kari Dawn Lemke her husband Phillip, Russell Lee Baker his wife Tina and Mindy JeNee Longley her husband Sam all of Clovis, New Mexico; great grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob, Anthony, Cheyenne, Weslin, Lexi, Jay and Kristian.

He served in the U. S. Navy in the South Pacific Campaign during World War II and after discharge moved to Clovis to work for the ATSF railroad. He retired after 40 years to enjoy traveling and spending winters in Arizona. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking. His great love was his grandchildren and great grandchildren, watching them participate in school activities, grow to become good Christians and to raise his great grandchildren in Christian loving homes.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Mark Loflin, Wayde Loflin, Russell Baker, Phillip Lemke, Sam Longley Rocky Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be great grandchildren, Anthony Silva, Cheyenne Loflin, Zachary Loflin, Jacob Loflin, Weslin Lemke, Lexi Lemke, Joy Hughes Kristian Hughes.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vista Care.

Services will be Monday, September 25, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Parkland Baptist Church in Clovis. Dr. Herbert Bergstrom Pastor Doug Brooks will officiate. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Visitation will be from 6:00 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2006 at the funeral home.
