Robert Hass

April 7, 1923 — April 30, 2008


Robert Charles Hass, age 85, passed away at Farwell Convalescent Center, Wednesday, April 30 after a brief illness. He was born in Forrest, New Mexico, April 7, 1923 to Fred and Emma Watson Hass, the youngest of 8 children.

Robert was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving 2 years and 7 months on ships in the Pacific. He retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after 30 years as a brakeman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, horse races and family bar-b-ques in the backyard. He married Wilma McEwin September 28, 1966 in Las Vegas, New Mexico.

He is survived by a step-son, Major Tommy Stewart of Arab, Alabama; a sister, Fern Hass of Clovis and Las Cruces, New Mexico; long time friend, Mike Reid of Clovis; nieces, Vickie Villanueva Vince of Clovis, Marva Coston Terry of Tucumcari, New Mexico, Debbie Beevers of Clovis, New Mexico, Sandra Bates Ray of Tucumcari, New Mexico, Betty Joyce Perry Dwain of Durango, Colorado, Barbara Barraza Ed of Tularosa, New Mexico and Sara Kelly of Houston, Texas and nephews Dee Wade Beevers of Farwell, Texas, Jim Hass Judy of Clayton, New Mexico, Phillip Hass Shana of Dalhart, Texas, Don Hass Wanda of Arlington, Texas and Jim Tidwell of Clovis, New Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1993; 4 brothers, Marvin, Kenneth, Clifford and Glenn Hass; 2 sisters, Marie Cooper and Elva Beevers; a nephew, Robert Wayne Hass and a niece, Linda Tidwell.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.

After the service the family will receive friends at 809 Connelly in Clovis.
