Robert Newby

Douglas Newby, of Grady, passed away on Tuesday, November 24 in Clovis.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 5 at 400 NM Hwy 278, Grady NM; (directional signs will be posted beginning near mile marker 7 on Hwy 469 just north of Grady). All attendees are invited to bring a memento representative of the deceased to be added to the burial site. All items sentimental and/or humorous are welcome.

Lunch and a time to share memories will follow at Allen Hall on Main St. in Grady.

Robert Douglas Newby was born in Tucumcari, NM to Maxine Fife Newby and Bill Newby on December 27, 1956. He graduated from Tucumcari High School in 1974. He was a gifted welder, builder, and mechanic. Douglas was a hard worker, strong willed, and had a unique sense of humor. He was well-known in these parts, and many people cared deeply for him.

Douglas is survived by his twin daughters, Rhonda Newby-Torres of Adelino, NM and Marti (Newby) Giddings of Ft. Worth, TX, and their respective husbands Angelo Torres and Douglas Giddings; his brother Nick LeCompte (Tucumcari); sister Billye Leigon (Tucumcari); sister Eddye Fox (Midland, TX); grandchildren Concepcion and Epifanio Torres (Adelino, NM) and Jonathan, Darby, Jackson, and Allison Giddings (Ft. Worth, TX).

Douglas is preceded in death by his parents Maxine and Bill Newby.
