Robert Nuckolls

Mr. Robert G. Nuckolls, 81, of Clovis, passed away Saturday, July 15th ,2006 at the Southwest Regional Hospital in Lubbock.

He is survived by two sons, Grant Nuckolls and his wife Vickie of Clovis, and Keith Nuckolls of Reno, Nevada; one daughter, Linda Walcott Pat of Coarsegold, California; two granddaughters, Tammi Nuckolls Martell of Mountain Home, Idaho, Teri Walcott Vilmur of California, two grandsons, Jason Walcott and Randy Nuckolls both from California; six great-grandchildren; and one niece, Betty Ann Nuckolls Medina of Espanola, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda; two sisters, Mabel Nuckolls, and Josie Nuckolls Allison; and one brother, Don Nuckolls.

He was born October 18, 1924 in Seneca, New Mexico to Robert E. and Nellie Brown Nuckolls. He served in the Army during WWII as a sharpshooter in Co. K, 179th Infantry Regt. 45th Div. until honorably discharged in May of 1945. During that time he received the EAMET Ribbon, Purple Heart, One Bronze Service Star, and a Combat Infantry Badge. In 1948 he went to work for OK Tire Store. Then after a time he worked for Big O and Shook Tire for a total of 30 years in the tire business. During those years he married Wanda Dorice Higgins on April 13, 1954 in Portales. Robert loved the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. He listened to Country and Old Gospel music all the time. He loved watching the Nashville station and the PRC Rodeo. He had many lifelong friends he loved very much. And he was really enjoying the new friends he had made after recently moving to the Senior Citizen Resident Center. The thing he enjoyed the most was visiting with his family and friends.

Services will be at 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 18 at Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Burial will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Carl Reaves, Jeff Martell, Bob Snipes, Coy Burrell, Toby Phipps, Earl Scott, Alfred Ortiz, Eddie Miller, and Ruben Pro. Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Citizen Resident Center in Clovis.
