Ronald L. Baker, 68, of Clovis went to dwell with his Lord and Savior on March 20.
Ron was born to Lex and Mary Lee Baker on December 27, 1946. He was raised in Clovis and married the love of his life, Joyce Ford, on June 17, 1967 in Clovis. He served his country in the Army from 1966 to 1968. He had a career in law enforcement that spanned over 40 years, starting out as a radio operator and retiring as a lieutenant with the New Mexico State Police at headquarters in Santa Fe. He was stationed in Clovis, Santa Rosa, Las Cruces and Santa Fe. After his retirement, he continued in law enforcement with the ENMU police and the Curry County probation office. Ron enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and traveling. He spent many hours investing in the lives of young people, chaperoning youth trips and volunteering at Bonita Park Nazarene Conference Center in Ruidoso. He was a foster father to many children and enjoyed working with at-risk youth.
Ron is preceded in death by Wesley Wayne Baker, his infant son, and his parents Lex and Mary Lee Baker.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Ford/Baker of the home; daughter, Kari (Baker) Lemke and her husband Phillip; son, Rusty Baker and his wife Tina; daughter, Mindy Baker; the lights of his life, his grandchildren, Kristian Hughes (18), Joy Hughes (16), Remington Baker (7), Weslin Lemke (17) and Lexi Lemke (14); one sister, Bobbie Loflin; and a loving extended family.
Arrangements are being made by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Services will be held Tuesday March 24, 2015 at Livingstones Community Church at 10:00am. The family will be receiving guests at Steed-Todd on Monday evening from 6:00 - 8:00.
Pallbearers include Remington Baker, Weslin Lemke, Jon Ford, Tio Ford, Rocky Martin, Scott Martin, Mark Loflin, Wayde Loflin and Leroy Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are all former and present law enforcement officers.
In lieu of flowers, please give to the youth charity of your choice or to the Bonita Park Nazarene camp in Ruidoso.
