Rosa Lee Vaughn

Rosa Lee McDaniel Vaughn passed from this life August 6, 2016, in Clovis, New Mexico. She was a lifetime member of the Clovis community born on September 2, 1922, in Curry County, New Mexico to Pryor Reynolds McDaniel and Hattie Maude Burton McDaniel, both of whom were pioneer farmers to this area. Rosa was the youngest of five children, preceded in death by: Secil Vanoy McDaniel, Lela McDaniel Head, Lucille McDaniel Bailey and Clinton McDaniel. She attended Blacktower School. On July 5, 1943, she married Amos Stovall Vaughn of Anniston, Alabama, and they enjoyed fifty-seven years together until his death in 2001. They met while Amos was stationed at Cannon Army Air Force base and he served as a Sergeant in World War II European Theater. They had three children: Randol Lee Vaughn, Ronnie Stovall Vaughn and Ricky Reynolds Vaughn. Rosa was a devoted housewife and mother who supported the Clovis High School Band in which her three children were avidly involved. She was active in community projects: a Pink Lady at the hospital for many years, delivered Meals on Wheels and offered her time at the Prince Street Baptist Church. Being a talented bowler, Rosa later became a member of various bowling leagues, winning many trophies in the 1970s and 1980s. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her close friends and took pride in her independent spirit, continuing to drive herself around town and keep up her immaculate home.
Rosa is preceded in death by her parents P.R. McDaniel and Hattie McDaniel, her four siblings, and her husband, Amos Stovall Vaughn. She is survived by her three sons, Randol Lee Vaughn and wife Cindy of Spring, Texas, Ronnie Stovall Vaughn and wife Peggie of Midland, Texas and Ricky Reynolds Vaughn and wife Lorraine of Henderson, Nevada; two grandchildren, Anthony Vaughn of London, England and Melissa McKearney of Henderson, Nevada; one great grandchild, Darren Rick McKearney of Henderson Nevada, and many nephews and nieces.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 10, at 10:00AM at Lawn Haven Memorial Ceremony under the direction of Jon Forrest of First Christian Church.
