Royce Newman

Royce D. Newman, 76, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at Northwest Hospital in Amarillo, TX. He was born June 9, 1935, at home in Perry, NM to George and Zella Scroggins Newman. He graduated from Floyd High School in 1953. He married Juanell Petty on June 5, 1955 in Portales, NM. He was employed by J.C. Penny while attending ENMU and was employed by Prudential Insurance for 44 years and during those years he received some of the highest industry and company awards. He served in the Army Reserves. Before he retired he belonged to the Lions Club and Life Underwriters Association. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. After retirement he and Juanell had many years of enjoyment traveling and spending time with family and friends. He provided many happy memories of fun times for all of his family.

He is survived by wife Juanell of the home one daughter, Cindy Troy Reid of El Dorado, KS one granddaughter, LaTisha Tim Campos of El Dorado, KS one granddaughterinlaw, Amy Reid of Independence, KS. He is also survived by seven greatgrandchildren, Andrew, Layton, Katalina, Braiden, Tate, Adrianna, and Andon. He is survived by one brother Quentin Linda Newman of Justin, TX, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Zella Newman one son, Bruce Newman one grandson, Rusty Reid one sister, Deann Powers.

Service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at SteedTodd Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Bruce Kirby, officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray Stewart, Max Kelso, Bruce Smith, Earl Robinson, Dr. Gene Walker, Dr. Maurice Waters, Dennis Reid, Bud Haga, Harold Wuest, Bob Howard, and Nolan Beaver.
