Ruby Miss Ruby Taylor, age 81, of Clovis, New Mexico, died September 21, 2008.
Ruby was born May 8th, 1927 in Kerens, Texas to Spencer and Missie Jimmerson Taylor. She attended Goodlow Park School in Kerens. She moved to Clovis in 1949 with her first husband, K. Willard Hancock. To this union one son was born, Perry W. Hancock. She worked as motel housekeeper until retiring in 1993.
She was a faithful member of the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Clovis, New Mexico. She actively served on the kitchen committee, as well as Deaconess and member of the W.M.U. Auxiliary.
Survivors include her devoted daughter Chris Dudley Leo; 9 grandchildren, Dereke Mims Sarolyn of Carrollton, Texas, Philip Mims Theresa, of Anderson, South Carolina, Scott Mims Mary of Austin, Texas, Gary Mims, Aurora, Colorado, Keith Lucas, Vancouver, Washington, Parren Lucas, of Vancouver, Washington, Perry Hancock, Jr., Clovis, New Mexico, Anthony Hancock, Aurora, Colorado and Tabia Hancock, of Amarillo, Texas; 16 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren; 2 nieces, Betty Garrett of Memphis, Tennessee and Sheila Dunn, of Dallas, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Missie and Ruben Lathen, stepfather and Spencer Taylor, father; great grandson, Roderick Quick; 2 sisters, Lorene Dunn and Lola Edwards; one brother, Charles Taylor and son, Perry Hancock, Sr.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 816 Davis Street, Clovis, New Mexico, Reverend Billy Askew, Pastor. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories.
