Ruby Ward, age 84, of Clovis, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024, at Farwell Care and Rehabilitation Center.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, 10:00 am, at Central Baptist Church, Clovis, New Mexico, with Pastor Michael Kirby officiating.
Ruby was born in Clovis to Sam and Pearl (Brunk) Williams on July 20, 1939. She was the youngest of seven children. She completed 10th grade at Clovis High School, celebrated her 17th birthday in July, and with her mother's permission, married Ernest Ward, the love of her life, on August 9, 1956. She was a housewife, loving mother, and worked alongside Ernest at Ward Bros. Tractor. They were happily married 43 years until Ernest's passing in 1999.
She was a member of the Church of the Brethren. For over 30 years, she was the song leader, and was also very active in children's ministry as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School director, and chaperoned many youth trips. Her favorite hobbies were fishing and occasional trips to the casino.
Survivors include her children, Sharon Switzer (Rick) and Mike Ward (Kim); grandchildren, Lance (Erin) Switzer, Blake (Amanda) Switzer, Brooke (Kyle) Reece, Ashleigh (Clay) Davis, and Myca (Brandon) Jackson; great-grandchildren, Kylen and Kason Switzer, Olivia, Onna, and Addison Switzer, Leanna, Kathryn, Rhenn and Asher Reece, Cagen and Carter Davis, and Adaleigh Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.
