Salvador Jauregui-Ruiz passed away in the early morning hours on Thursday June 2, 2016 surrounded by his beloved wife and children. Salvador, affectionately known as Chavo" was born to Melecio and Guadalupe Jauregui on October 07, 1959 in Nochistlán Zacatecas Mexico. Both of his parents have preceded him in death.
Chavo was born and raised in the small Mexican town of Nochistlán, Zacatecas, located deep in the heart of Mexico itself. He was 4 of 8 children and held the distinction of being the middle boy amongst the sons. Chavo spent his childhood playing in the arid landscape with its low rolling basins and small jetting peaks. In 1966 a young Salvador traveled from Mexico with his parents and siblings and immigrated to Oakland CA. Here he learned about how to care for roses at a local nursery; being taught the art of pruning roses, where to cut the stem and how to properly nurture these delicate blooms. In 1978 he headed south with his sister Sofia and took up residence in LA. Salvador's passion for growing plants continued to thrive and soon he found himself working on a farm helping to harvest Lemons. He had always loved working on a farm and out in the fields. Being able to get outside into the warm sweet sunlight, nutrient rich soil under his feet and a cool breeze on his neck made the work all that much more rewarding. Coming home in the evening with the tangy scent of lemon in his nose was satisfying to his nature.
By 1980 his father had returned to Mexico and purchased land with over five thousand apple trees. Green, red and yellow apples speckled the small farm trees with their crisp sweet fruit. During the course of the next year he met, fell in love with, and soon married his true and only love. His wife Ana Bertha. Soon the couple left again and headed back to LA in 1981 with their first child Erick still in his mother's womb. They began their new life together in the USA.
Mr. Jauregui was a man in the purest sense of the word. He worked hard and took care of his family, he wasn't afraid to get dirty, and he loved to drive. In 1984 Salvador became one of only a handful of people who are granted the opportunity to have, and to work, their dream job. He went to work with his younger brother Mario driving a semi-truck across the USA. He got to see and experience the country from behind the wheel of his big rig and more importantly began to live the adage, "if you do what you love you never work a day in your life."
Mr. Jauregui loved to draw and sketch. As a child he would commandeer scraps of paper and let his imagination produce works of art. Being young the scraps would often be thrown away but over the years his talent grew. This love of graphite creativity was passed down the line to his sons. His oldest son Erick has this talent just as Erick's son has it now. The first drawing taught to his son was a racecar, just as it was his first to draw, and then the first to be taught to his grandchild. This unintentional legacy has transcended the Jauregui bloodline.
Salvador is survived by his wife Ana Bertha Jauregui of Clovis NM; sons Erick and Alecxis Jauregui of Clovis NM; daughters Soledad, Guadalupe, and Annabel Jauregui of Clovis NM; brother Carlos Jauregui of Hayward CA and Mario Jauregui of El Paso TX; sisters Sofia Hernandez of Clovis NM, Elizabeth Delgado of El Paso TX, Leticia Sanchez of El Paso TX, Ruby Gonzalez of Phoenix AZ. He is preceded in death by his father Melecio Jauregui and mother Maria Guadalupe Jauregui and brother Jesus Jauregui.
