Sam Hunter, 68, of Clovis, New Mexico, died Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He was born February 17, 1942 in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, to Lyle Lydia Kimmel Hunter.
He married Treva January 15, 2004, in Portales, New Mexico. He had been a resident of Clovis the past eleven years, moving to Clovis from Greenville, Texas. He loved woodworking, fishing and crocheting baby blankets. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was witty and loved to make people laugh. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Clovis.
He is survived by his wife, Treva of the home in Clovis 1 daughter, Darla Dawson of Mount Pleasant 2 sisters, Charlene Brown and Janet Schole both of Mount Pleasant 2 brothers, Vern McQueen and Dennis Coffell both of Mount Pleasant 1 niece, Lexi Franse of Texico, New Mexico 9 grandchildren 3 step daughters, Brenda Bioando and Melissa Mitchell of Middlesex, North Carolina and Jennifer Burnett of Utica, Mississippi many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Church of the Brethren in Clovis with Rev. Jim Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at Texico Cemetery in Texico.
Casket bearers will be Lee Thompson, Will Barton, Steve Franse, Josh Franse, Gary Jones and Shaun Banther.
