Sandy Vandiver age 67, of Clovis passed away Friday, September 23, 2011, at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, TX. She was born October 14, 1943 in Portales, NM to Rosco and Iris Pankievich Bumgardener. Sandy grew up in Washington State and came back to the Clovis area in 1968. She married Fred Vandiver on July 24, 1973 in Socorro NM. She was the past President of the Does and member of the Elks Lodge in Clovis. She was also a member of the American Legion in Logan, NM. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking and making jewelry. She was a woman, a friend, and a mother who cared for us when we were sick, when we were down, she brought us up, and when we needed someone to talk to, she listened. Thank you for being there in body, mind, and spirit. We love you forever.
She is survived by one son, Gary Gillette of Clovis, NM a step daughter, Katheryn Parker of San Jon, NM one step son, Michael Vandiver of Albuquerque, NM three grandchildren, Alisa Sandoval of Albuquerque, NM Jamie Kaye Parker of Tuttle, OK, and Kyle M. Parker of Clovis, NM three great grandchildren, Jadyn Sandoval of Albuquerque, NM, Teagen Jan Hames of Tuttle, OK , and Alana Rose Sandoval of Albuquerque, NM one sister Cookie Gideon of Melrose, NM one brother, Brent Pankievich of Loveland, CO and nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Vandiver her parents, Rosco and Iris Bumgardener two sons Michael Gillette and Don Gillette and one brother, Claude Bumgardener.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 24 p.m. at SteedTodd Funeral Home. Cremation will take place following visitation.
