Santos Valdez

Santos R. Valdez, age 72, of Clovis, New Mexico, passed away at St. Anthonys Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Clovis, New Mexico on Thursday, August 25, 2011.
He was born in Marfa, Texas on November 11, 1938. He moved to Clovis in 1969, where he started working as a cement finisher for Pete Griego, which is now Griego and Sons Construction. He worked for Nick Griego for 32 years.

He married Teresita Merelez of Abernathy, Texas on January 27, 1982. Santos loved to sing, play his guitar and most of all dance. Among other hobbies, he did woodwork and also loved to exercise and loved boxing.

He is survived by his wife Teresita four sons, Jesus Mirelez and fiance Deliah Tafoya of Clovis, Martin Valdez and wife Bertha of Clovis, Abel Valdez of Clovis, and Benito Valdez of Santa Fe, NM and one grandson, Gustavo Angel Valdez of Clovis.
He is preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Benito Valdez.

A prayer service is scheduled for Monday, August 29, 2011 in the SteedTodd Chapel at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 in the SteedTodd Chapel at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Allen Urioste, officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis. Pallbearers will be, Ruben Olguin, Roland Moreno, Santiago Dominguez, Lalo Dominguez, Eluterio Lopez, and Daniel Lopez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gustavo Angel Valdez and Nick Griego and Sons.
