Shelia Jo Jacobs was born on October 13, 1958 in Denver City, Texas to Johnny W. Jacobs and Gwendolyn Celya Matthews Jacobs. The family soon moved to Clovis where Shelia spent most of her childhood, except for a couple of years in Hereford, Texas. She graduated from Clovis High School in 1976.
Always ready for an adventure or a challenge, Shelia decided to move to San Francisco, California not long after she finished high school. While there, she enjoyed working at the Levi Strauss home office for seven years before deciding she missed her friends and family and moved back to Clovis.
Shelia was a meticulous bookkeeper and was employed by several different local businesses the past twenty years. Her most recent job was at EPCOG, where she met many coworkers who became good friends.
The greatest joy in Shelias life was giving birth to her daughter, Katie, in 1990. She adored her and cherished the years watching Katie grow up and become a lovely young lady.
Sadly, Shelia was diagnosed with cancer in November, 2011. She bravely fought it for two months, before the Lord ended her suffering. Shelias courage and grace while under hospice care amazed friends and family each day.
Shelia was preceded in death by her mother, Gwen, and her father, Johnny. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Katie Cylia Hagood of Minot, South Dakota and her Uncle Jim Jacobs of Ranchvale, New Mexico. She is also survived by her two brothers, J.R. Jacobs and his wife Teresa Horton Jacobs and Don and his wife Debbie Armijo Jacobs, all from Clovis. Shelia loved her nephews and nieces. Her surviving nephews are Jordan Jacobs of Clovis, Brandon Jacobs and his wife Zandi Carpenter Jacobs of Clovis and John Jacobs and his wife Kenda Pierce Jacobs of Queen Creek, Arizona. Her two nieces are Adelina Jacobs of Clovis and Abbye Jacobs Callender and her husband Neil Callender of Colorado Springs, Colorado. In addition, Shelia loved being a great aunt to six children: Toby, Caden, Ryleigh and Logan Jacobs of Clovis, and Madison and Mayci Jacobs of Queen Creek, Arizona.
Shelias family would like to thank Ms. Diana Hunt for her friendship, loyalty, and for the time she spent with her when Shelia became ill. Lastly, the family must thank Ms. Jill Graham for her constant watchcare and nursing skills these past two months under hospice care. She was not only Shelias best friend, she was an angel who never left Shelia during her illness. Jill and her daughters Kristen, Amber and Sarah took great care of our sister until she passed on from this life on January 23, 2012.
