Shirley Stutts

Shirley shuffled off this mortal coil on August 24, 2022 in Clovis. Shirley was born on June 11, 1931 in Elkhart, Kansas to Burtus and Unaberyl McKelvey. She grew up in Kansas and Oklahoma and then the family settled in Leoti, Kansas. She attended Panhandle A&M in Goodwell, Oklahoma where she met her future husband, Larry. They were married on September 16, 1952 in Leoti Kansas.

She was a homemaker until the family moved to Clovis in 1962. She secured a teaching position as a Language Arts teacher and later as the school Librarian at Gattis Jr. High until her retirement in 1996.

She is preceded in death by her husband Larry, her middle son Wade and her sister Barbara.

She is survived by her son, Thane and his wife Cynthia; and her youngest son, Kyle and his wife Angela, of Richmond TX.

Shirley was passionate about reading and traveling. She spent her sons' inheritance traveling to Scotland (and the UK) and most of Europe, Russia, China and the Holy Land. She collected coffee mugs from every state in the Union and could tell you a story about each and everyone she collected. A reception will be held at her home at 916 W. Yucca Clovis, NM on September 11, 2022 from 1-4pm.
