Speedy "David" Gutierrez, age 55, of Texico, NM was surrounded by his family when God called him to his eternal home on Sunday, January 13, 2019. He was born on February 1, 1963 in El Pueblo, NM to the home of Alejandro and Lydia C. (Chavez) Gutierrez.
Speedy was a hard worker and worked for numerous years as a Rail Watchman /Ribber for Excel in Friona, TX. He also worked as a bricklayer for numerous construction companies in Portales and Clovis.
Speedy was devoted to his Catholic religion and to the church. He loved to cook and work outdoors, as he had a green thumb growing beautiful flowers. Speedy had a wonderful sense of humor and was just a fun guy to be around. He was good at making his friends and family laugh as he was joking around. Speedy was a simple easy going guy who was humble and never complained about anything. He loved spending time with his family. The joy of his life were his children, David and Lorena and his grandchildren, Evyanna and Roman. He will be dearly missed by all.
Preceding his death are his parents, Alejandro and Lydia Gutierrez; sister, Carlota Gutierrez; brother-in-law, Raymond Tarango; and paternal and maternal grandparents.
Speedy leaves behind his son, David (Esli) Gutierrez of Amarillo, TX; daughter, Lorena Wallace of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Roman and Evyanna Wallace; brothers, Alexander (Lorraine) Gutierrez of Roswell, NM and Elfido Gutierrez of Clovis, NM; and sisters, Ruthie Apodaca of Encino, NM, Loretta (Chris) Sena of Texico, NM, Rachel (Jim) Pena) of Texico, NM, Darlene Gutierrez of Texico, NM, Eloisa Gutierrez of Clovis, NM, Laverne Gutierrez of Texico, NM and Nadine Gutierrez of Clovis, NM.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 17th beginning at 11:00am followed by a Rosary at 6:00pm at Steed Todd Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, January 18th, 10:30am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Clovis. Burial will follow at Texico Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Alexander Gutierrez, Elfido Gutierrez, David Gutierrez, Roman Wallace, Dominic Gutierrez, Abel Viscaino, Manuel Prieto, and Miguel Payen. Serving as honorary bearers are Lorena Wallace, Evyanna Wallace, Esli Gutierrez and all his nieces and nephews.
All friends and family are welcome to gather in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Hall in Clovis for fellowship and a meal after the burial.
