His many awards include the Good Conduct Medal, 4 Overseas Service Bars, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Service Star and the Rifle Expert Infantryman Badge. His overseas army unit won a Star Medal for excellence in performing duties. At the time of his discharge, he was a Staff Sgt. He married Opal Farrar November 25, 1946. He was the manager of a grain elevator in Clovis from 1950 to 1966 and remained a consultant for several years after that. He also served on the draft board and received the Award for Community Service. His retirement years were spent in supervising farming and ranching interests. He was a member of 16 and Pile Church of Christ in Clovis.
