Services for Sylvia Eva Corder age 74 will be Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Parkland Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Brooks, assisted by Rev. Dick Ross officiating. Burial will follow at the Portales Cemetery in Portales, New Mexico. Mrs. Corder passed away Monday, December 17, 2007 at her home in Clovis. She was born January 29, 1933 in Lubbock, Texas to Cecil Henry and Mildred Eva Butler Stephens. She was raised in Portales where she graduated. She met Bobby Corder in Portales and they where married on May 13, 1950. They resided in Clovis for the past 50 years. She received her degree in education from Eastern New Mexico University and received her first teaching job at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Clovis. Sylvia continued her college education and received her Masters degree in Special Education. Sylvia was the church organist for Highland Baptist Church and enjoyed playing whenever she could. She was currently a member of Parkland Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Marshall Fair, Bob Morgan, George England, Charlie Eldridge, Gary Elliott, John Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Dick, Brent Corder, Stephen Dick, Tip Fullerton, and Michael Maenle.
She is survived by her husband Bobby G. Corder of Clovis; her mother Mildred Stephens of Clovis; two sons Curtis and wife Benna Corder of Lubbock, Texas; Henry and wife Sherry Corder of Clovis, New Mexico; one daughter Cecilia and her husband Michael Maenle of Clovis, New Mexico; six grandchildren Shelly and Tip Fullerton, Jana Corder, Michael and Gia Dick, Brent and Kristi Corder, Stephen and Sarah Dick, and Jennifer Corder; seven great grandchildren Destiny, Nathan and Cerena Fullerton, Lauren Dick, Victoria Dick, Allison and Abigail Corder.
She is preceded in death by her father in 1998.
