Ted Blair, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and uncle, went home to be with his Savior on Saturday morning , February 27, 2010. He was born in Clovis at the old Baptist Hospital on April 3, 1933, to Ernie and Ruby Blair. Ted grew up in Clovis, attended and graduated from Clovis High School where he met and later married the love of his life, Elise Johnson. They married on graduation night in the First Baptist Church.
At age 17, Ted joined the U. S. Army Reserves and shortly thereafter he went active duty with the U. S. Army where he served for 35 years, retiring as Depot Sergeant Major, Red River Army Depot, in 1986. He received numerous medals and commendations for his military service. He saw action in Korea and Vietnam.
After retiring from the military, Ted became a Deputy Sheriff for Bowie County, Texas, and later Curry County, New Mexico. During this period the Lord led Ted to begin what was his greatest lifes work, bringing souls to Jesus. He served as deputy for 19 years, retiring in November 2004.
He then dedicated the remainder of his life to his wife and his other passion: bringing Gods word to the inmates of Curry county Detention Center. He also witnessed the Glory of the Lord in his Sunday School teaching and with his singing in the church choir.
Mr. Blair is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Elise 2 daughters, Daryl Blair and Kelly Brusven Todd one son, Teddy R. Blair II 2 sisters, Betty Gentry Bobby and Sandi Rogers Shelby grandchildren, Dominic Blair, Teddy R. Trae Blair III, Gage Blair, Laurel Kersh numerous nieces , nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens with Eric Fields officiating. Pallbearers are his son, soninlaw, grandsons and brotherinlaw.
