Thelma Prather

Thelma Louise Prather, 87, of Lubbock, TX, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, July 12, 2015.

The family will be receiving friends at 10:30 am on Thursday, June 16, before the service.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am (mountain time) Thursday, July 16, at Steed Todd Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dick Ross of Central Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Steed Todd Funeral Home.

Thelma was born in Globe, AZ, to John and Ella Sniffen on August 13, 1927. She married Troy Lee Prather on June 26, 1948, in Globe. After marrying, they moved to Clovis where they lived the majority of their married life. She was a homemaker, Manager of Fabrific Fabric Center, owner of Stitches of New Mexico, and Stitches of New Mexico Antique Store. She was a member of Central Baptist Church since 1958 where she served in many areas of ministry including the Singles Dept., The Literacy Class, WMU, the Sixth Grade Sunday School Dept., VBS, Good News Clubs and many more. Her greatest ministry was serving her family where she leaves an incredible legacy.

Thelma is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, one sister, infant son, Troy David Prather, and son, Everett Lee Prather.

Thelma is survived by her husband, Troy Prather of Lubbock, TX; her daughter and son-in-law, Belinda and Dr. Kyle Sunderman of Lubbock, TX; daughter-in-law, Beverly Major of Clovis, NM,; brother, William Sniffen of Marana, AZ; sister, Ruth Vidauretta of Albuquerque, NM; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons:
Mark Sunderman, Cody Prather, Dylan McNaughton, Brian Mikusek, Duffy Moon, Blaine Bearden, and Andrew Fierro.
