Tonya Rena Von Hoene, 56, of Farwell, Texas, peacefully passed to eternal life on October 3, 2021. Tonya was one of seven children born to Grover Wallace Meeks and Doris Francel Meeks (Stovall).
Tonya was born in Clovis, New Mexico on September 8, 1965 and grew up in Farwell, Texas. She was the daughter of a WWII Army veteran who, after the war, became a carpenter by trade. Her mother was a wonderful homemaker and together, with God's help, raised their seven children. Both of her parents were loving, giving, and caring people. These qualities were passed down to their children and were very evident in Tonya's life. They were a direct reflection of who Tonya was as a person, a wife, a mother, and a grandma.
She lived in Farwell, Texas most of her life, attending Farwell schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade and graduating from Farwell High in 1984. She received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at an early age. After graduating, she spent some time in Lynchburg, Virginia living with her sister, Linda Atwell (Bobby). There she enjoyed family time, the mountains, and the color of the changing leaves in the Fall season. She would eventually come back "home" to West Texas. She attended High Plains Baptist Church in Clovis New Mexico founded by Bobby Atwell (Linda).
Tonya's first love, her pride and joy, Trenton Todd Meeks was born on April 28, 1986. Tonya was hired on as an operator at Plateau in July of 1987 where she would eventually meet and become friends with Greg Von Hoene. She was like no other in his eyes. He asked for her hand in marriage and they were married on January 31, 1997 at Grace Fellowship in Clovis, New Mexico. She was then blessed with Garhett Steven Von Hoene born on January 17, 1998 and Sean Brydon Von Hoene was born on December 24, 2001. She was able to leave Plateau with 11 years of service so that she could raise our family. These were some of the best years of our lives.
She took great joy and pleasure in watching her children grow up to become the men that they are and seeing them choose their wives. Trenton married Jeana on October 23, 2010 and gave us 3 wonderful, amazing granddaugthers. Tonya loved being their Grandma TuTu. She loved to visit with them on the phone and receive letters and pictures from them. She couldn't wait to see them in person and couldn't see or hug them enough. Garhett married Rikki on November 8, 2019. We were excited that they would be moving closer to us so that we could see them more often. We just love Rikki and Jeana and thank them for loving our guys. Tonya was also excited for Sean Brydon's future. Like always, praying for God's Best and His Will in everyone's lives.
Tonya taught herself how to crochet and loved being able to bless her granddaughters, family members, relatives, and friends with handmade gifts made from her heart. She enjoyed music, gardening, growing our own vegetables (a love of lessons past, passed down from her parents). She loved flowers, mountains, rivers, streams, and lakes. She enjoyed nature, quiet times that drew her closer to the Lord. She liked shows and movies, get togethers, playing games, and visiting with family and friends. Tonya had a beautiful voice and, growing up, loved to sing with her sisters. She was so loving, kind, caring, and faithful. Her personality lit up a room, her laugh was endearing, and her Spirit sweet. A constant in our lives, I will rest in knowing that the Lord Thy God in the Midst of Thee is Mighty. She will be missed by all, but what a Glorious Reunion it will be.
Tonya is preceded in death by her parents, one niece Cindy Lue Meeks (Jim and Lawanda Meeks) and one grandson Wyatt Eugene Meeks (Trenton and Jeana Meeks).
She is survived by her husband, Greg Von Hoene of 24 years; Her three sons, Trenton Todd Meeks (Jeana) and three granddaughters, Tristyn Reatta Meeks, Jocelynn Rein Meeks, and Cora Mae Meeks of Arthur, Nebraska; Garhett Steven Von Hoene (Rikki) of Norman, Oklahoma; and Sean Brydon Von Hoene of Farwell, Texas. She is survived by six siblings. Four sisters and two brothers: Virginia (Jeanne) Morton of Lubbock, Texas; Linda Atwell (Bobby) of Arlington, Texas; James (Jimmy) Meeks (Lawanda); Debbie Richardson; Donna Meyer (Stuart); and Paul Meeks all of Farwell, Texas.
