Velma Magness

Velma Irene Staggs Magness, 97 of Farwell, Texas passed away Thursday, February 7, 2008 in Farwell. She was born October 1, 1910 in Taylor County, Texas to Obie and Rebecca Ann Stanland Staggs. She was a homemaker who enjoyed life and helping others. She was an active member of the Hamlin Memorial United Methodist Church.

She is survived by 11 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 25 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband W.T. Magness; her three daughters, Mamie Jane Bowery, Billie Joe Jupe, and Katherine Jean White; four grandchildren; four brothers and four sisters.
Services are scheduled for Monday, February 11, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. CST at the Hamlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Farwell, Texas with Rev. Randall Partin officiating. Burial will follow at the Oklahoma Lane Cemetery in Oklahoma Lane, Texas. Pallbearers will be Jody Mahaney, Justin Mahaney, Spencer Ketcherside, Preston Ketcherside, Adam Engram, Leroy Jupe, Derek Goettsch, Devin Goettsch, and Dewayne Chilton.
