Velma Rierson Murray passed away on November 10, 2005 at Plains Regional MedicalbrCenter. She was born February 22, 1922 in the old Baptist Hospital in Clovis. brbrShe was the fourth child of George Madison and Alpha Omega Rierson. Her father George and four brothers were early pioneers who homesteaded in north Curry County between 1905 and 1911 before New Mexicos statehood.brbrShe is survived by her sons Frank Murray his wife Minnie of Santa, New Mexicobrand George Murray of Albuquerque, New Mexico; l sister Emily Marchman of IowabrCity, Iowa and a brother Chester Rierson of Clovis; 2 grandchildren Frank Murray ofbrAlbuquerque and Rainbow Higgins of Norman, Oklahoma; 2 great grandchildren AlexbrMurray and Hunter Higgins; a host of nephews nieces. She leaves many, many closebr dear friends bridge club associates in Clovis and the surrounding area.brbrShe was preceded in death by her late husband, Frank Murray, the Mayor of Clovis for 12 years; her parents; 1 brother Dallas Rierson and 1 sister Dessie Langston.brbrShe was an insurance adjuster for many years before retirement and an active member ofbrSacred Heart Catholic Church and Alter Society. She and her husband owned the AztecbrBowl, Clovis Taxi and Ambulance Services.brbrMemorial Mass will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, November 12, 2005 at Sacred HeartbrCatholic Church.
