Velma R. Zoch, 86, of Clovis, New Mexico, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis. She was born July 8, 1921 near Lexington in Lee County, Texas to William Marie Helms Kube.
The family moved to a farm near Lariat in 1925. She grew up on the farm and attended and graduated from the Oklahoma Lane High School.
She married Wilbert L. Zoch September 1, 1946 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lariat, Texas. They had one son, Leon. Together they farmed in Parmer County, Texas and Curry County, New Mexico until Wilbert became employed by the Clovis school system. After Wilbert died in 1980, Velma devoted her time as a homemaker and caring for her son who required special care.
Velma was a faithful lifetime member of the Lutheran Church and current member of Immanuel Lutheran Church LCMS, of Clovis. She was active in all programs as time permitted.
She is survived by one son, Leon Zoch of Clovis and one brother, Ludwig Kube of Borger, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; 2 sisters, Minnie and Louise; 5 brothers, Benhard, Walter, Albert, Rudolph and Ernest.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clovis with Rev. Scott Blazek officiating. Burial will follow in Oklahoma Lane Cemetery in Oklahoma Lane, Texas.
Casket bearers will be her family.
