Veneranda Garcia

Veneranda Guadalupe Garcia, age 95, of Portales, New Mexico passed away on January 21, 2012 in Texico, New Mexico.

She was born on April 30, 1916 in Guadalupita, New Mexico to Teofilo and Amalia Chavez Gonzalez. She married Francisco Garcia on January 19, 1934 in Mora County New Mexico. She was a homemaker, excellent gardener and great mom. She canned everything from the garden. She enjoyed horse riding and was an excellent shot with a gun. She was a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Portales, New Mexico for 53 years.

She is survived by four daughters: Sally Clarkson of Kansas City, Missouri, Maybell Carrasco of Dayton, Oregon, Stella Majhor of Texico, New Mexico and Lillian Rodgers of Stockton, California six sons: Ernest Garcia of Veneta, Oregon, Pat Garcia of Mora, New Mexico, Jimmy Garcia, Frankie Garcia and Steve Garcia all of Portales, New Mexico and Simon Garcia of Grants, New Mexico thirtyeight grandchildren sixty great grandchildren and numerous greatgreat grandchildren one sister: Salome Lopez of Denver, Colorado two brothers: Ramon Gonzalez of Wagon Mound, New Mexico and Manuel Gonzalez of Bakersfield, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sons: Claudio Garcia and Joseph Garcia and one daughter: Sandra Martinez.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Portales, New Mexico with Walter Moore, officiating and Joe Majhor assisting. Interment will follow at Portales Cemetery in Portales, New Mexico.

Casket Bearers will be her grandsons: Joseph Majhor, Daniel Rodgers, Jay Allen Garcia, Gerald Garcia, Fabian Garcia and Josiah Clarkson.

Honorary Casket Bearers are all of her remaining grandchildren, great grandchildren and greatgreat grandchildren.
