Victor Fulkrod

Victor N. Fulkrod, 77, of Melrose, New Mexico, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at his home in Melrose. He was born April 6, 1932 in Lyc County, Pennsylvania, to Emery Florence Schroyer Fulkrod.

He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1950 and entered military service. He served from August 1951 through October 1972. He served three overseas tours, including Viet Nam. After retirement from the Armed Forces, he remained active in Veteran Affairs and was a strong supporter of the American troops. He was a long time employee of Farmers Coop Elevator Melrose Branch until 1987. He then worked for Floyd Municipal Schools until he retired in 1995. He also worked at Melrose Grain Elevator during harvest times. Vic truly enjoyed life to the fullest and enjoyed gardening in the spring and crocheting in the winter.

He is survived by three sons, Bill Fulkrod and Brian Fulkrod both of Melrose and Steven Fulkrod Maggie of Bel Air, Maryland; 2 daughters, Jennifer Lane of Melrose and Christy Melek James of Amarillo, Texas; one sister Bea Hoover of Paradise, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael and three brothers, Chappie, Tom and Robert and one sister Zola Grammas.

A Memorial Service will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2009, at First United Methodist Church, Melrose with Rev. Danny Sanders officiating.
