Victoria Matilde "Tillie" Archuleta succumbed to pneumonia on September 7th, 2019. She was 87 years old. Tillie was a very brave and strong lady and said she was ready for her journey to Heaven.
Tillie was the fourth child born to Diego and Genoveva Arguello on March 14th, 1932. She was raised in Albert, New Mexico, with four brothers and five sisters.
Tillie married Procopio Archuleta on April 18, 1949. She and Procopio moved to Clovis and raised seven children. She had a very strong work ethic and instilled in us the importance of being responsible and accountable in all that we did. Her greatest joy was her home. Having her family fill the rooms with conversation and a lot of laughter. Her favorite pastimes were watching the flowers and birds in her yard, watching her favorite game shows on TV, and most of all, her yearly trips to the casino with Copio, her two sisters, Annie and Corinne, and her brothers-in-law, Kenneth and Louis.
We will miss the smell of fresh homemade bread, pot roast and potatoes, red chili and beans, and
most of all, that sense of comfort we got every time we came home for visits
Tillie is survived by seven children: Linda Worts ( Mike) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Rosella Kelly (Kevin) of Richmondville, New York; Florence Gonzales (Charles) of Sacramento, California; Robert Archuleta (Patty) of San Jon, New Mexico; Cecelia Yandell (Nick Medina) of Clovis, New Mexico; Adrian Archuleta of Taos, New Mexico; and Procopio Archuleta JR (Teresa) of Clovis, New Mexico. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Tillie was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Procopio Archuleta Sr.; her parents, Diego and Genoveva Arguello; sisters , Elvera Baca and Sister Carmen Gonzales; and brothers, Victor Arguello and Leo Arguello.
Special thanks to family and friends who visited and kept her in their prayers while Tillie was hospitalized. Thank you to those special caregivers, who made her life very comfortable in her final years, and especially to her longtime friends, Helen and Carmen.
May you rest in peace, Mom.
We love you!
