Viola Chavez, 67, of Clovis passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at her home in Clovis. She was born February 11, 1944 in Clovis, NM to Joe B. Garcia and Beatrice Cordova.
She was married to Herman Chavez on May 29, 1965 in Clovis, NM. She worked for Our Lady of Guadalupe School as and assistant then went to work at La Casita for a total of 23 years and she retired in 2007. She loved to play Skipbo with her girlfriends who are known as the Ya Yas. She loved to play horse shoes and was pretty good at it. She enjoyed life to the fullest and adored her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Beatrice Garcia two sisters and one brother.
She is survived by her husband Herman of the home two daughters, Janie Chavez of Clovis, NM and Marcia D. Willie Garcia of Clovis, NM one son, Max Chavez of Clovis, NM. She is also survived by six grandsons and two granddaughters and one great grandson. She is also survived by one brother and three sisters.
A Rosary will be held on Thursday, September 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Clovis NM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with Father Sotero Sena, officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories, Clovis, NM.
