Viola Higgins

Viola Marie Higgins, passed from this life on November 21, 2006 in Portales, New Mexico.

She was born on November 12, 1919 in Clovis NM, to John Riley and Victoria Catherine Flye. In June of 1954, she married Leon Higgins and together they raised three children, James L White, Rickey D Higgins Teena Higgins. She was a devoted mother and wife who loved spending time with her family and friends and shopping.

She was also a 1939 graduate of Eastern New Mexico University. She served two terms as Curry County Clerk in the early 70s. She was a member of Central Christian Church and taught Sunday School for 42 years.

Survivors include her husband, Leon Higgins; 2 Children, James L. White wife Mary of Santa Fe, N. M., Katrina Teena Higgins of Aztec N. M.; 1 Sister, Betty Bell of Miami, Ariz.; 5 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren.

Viola is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Rickey D Higgins and 5 Siblings, Lucille Tharp, Leonard Flye, Jack Flye, Peggy Hicks and Teddy Dean Flye.

Pallbearers will be James Todd White, Rusty Higgins, Keith Hicks, Jonathan Tharp, Gary Lee Flye and Kevin Ross.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 25, 2006 at Central Christian Church in Clovis N.M. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis
