Viola Mae "Polly" Reid Jester
1921-2016

Viola "Polly" Jester, 94 of Clovis New Mexico, passed away on April 2, 2016 at Clovis Healthcare.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM MST at Steed-Todd Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM MST Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Steed-Todd Funeral Home with Reverend Garlan Hughes of Forrest Heights Baptist Church and Reverend Melvin Jester of Cuero, Texas officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Viola was born in Ranchvale, New Mexico to A.J. and Minnie Branam Reid on October 17, 1921. She went to school at Ranchvale where she was a star basketball player. While in high school, she met George C. "Buck" Jester and later married him on September 2, 1939 in Pleasant Hill, New Mexico. She worked in Clovis at Bob's Supermarket , The Stork Shop, as well as being a mom to four wonderful children. Buck and Polly celebrated seventy-two years of marriage before Bucks passing in 2012. She loved spending time with her family playing games, making a variety of crafts, and cooking lots of sweets.
She was preceded in death by her husband George C. "Buck" Jester; two sisters, Autrey Stockard and Aubrey Notman; and three brothers, Jim Reid, Joe Reid, and John Reid.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice Gossett and husband Leroy of Temple, Texas and Sharon Cole and husband Ron of Newnan, Georgia; two sons, Melvin Jester and wife Virginia of Cuero, Texas and James Jester and wife Linda of Amarillo, Texas; one sister Lola Mae "Spot" Starbuck of Clovis, New Mexico and one sister-in-law Virginia Reid of Clovis, New Mexico. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; six great-great- grandchildren and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Doug Gossett, Steven Cole, Shaun Jester, Cole Cordell, Ryan Cordell, and Taylor Craft.
Memorial contributions can be made to Forrest Heights Baptist Church, 1711 S. Prince, Clovis, New Mexico or to a charity of your choice.
The family would like to give a very special thank you to the staff of Clovis Healthcare for the loving care given to Polly these last seven and a half years.
