Virgil Leeder

Virgil Leeder, 82, of Clovis, New Mexico, died Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Southwest Regional Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. He was born March 1, 1928, in Hope, Oklahoma, to Ernest Beatrice Russell Leeder.

He was a longtime Clovis resident and a longtime salesman at Triangle Hardware. He married Wilma Jean Purdy December 25, 1940 in Tucson, Arizona. He was a member of Advent Christian Church and enjoyed playing 42 and bingo.

He is survived by 1 daughter, Sharon Jolley Dalton of Huntsville, Texas 1 son, Gregory Leeder of South Carolina 1 daughterinlaw, Paulette Leeder of Clovis 4 sisters, Jetta Lee Lowe Jackie of Hobbs, New Mexico, Leletta Leeder and Gaynelle Shreve Rick all of Mesquite, Texas and Mary Waterson of Quitman, Texas 1 brotherinlaw, Donald Purdy of Tucson, Arizona grandchildren, Kevin Boyd Emily of Sykesville, Maryland, Kate Spence Lynn of Wolfforth, Texas, Laura Leeder Martinez David of Clovis, Samantha Bottoms Archie of Lubbock, Texas and Kayla Boyd of Huntsville, Texas 2 great granddaughters and 6 great grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents 1 son, Guy Leeder 1 granddaughter, Taya Leeder and 2 brothers, James Johnny.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Taya Brooke Leeder scholarship fund at Clovis High School.

Services will be at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Advent Christian Church with Rev. Sam Walsh officiating. Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery, Melrose, New Mexico.
