Virginia Strickland

Virginia Irene Strickland, age 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 15, 2012 in Clovis, New Mexico. She was born on April 23, 1927 to D.L. and Cora Harmon Burch in Anahuac, Texas. She met Clark Strickland during her preschool days at church services in House, New Mexico and attended House Schools in the same class as Clark for all 12 grades. They married on November 3, 1946 in House, New Mexico. Virginia was a homemaker and devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she played the piano, taught Sunday school and sang alto in the church choir. She worked for several years as a Decorator at Sherwin Williams Paint and Wellborn Paints, both in Clovis, NM. Virginia is survived by her husband Clark Strickland of Clovis, NM five sons, Gordon Nancy Strickland of Los Lunas, NM, John Love of Los Lunas, NM, Steve Vicki Strickland of Lubbock, TX, Kris Debbie Strickland of Lubbock, TX, and Joe Jana Strickland of Clovis, NM four brothers, Leroy Burch, Johnnie Burch, Mike Burch and Harvey Burch and 3 sisters, Myrtle Noffsker, Juanita McBride, and Shirley Snider 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents one daughter, Viki Love 2 brothers 2 sisters and 2 grandchildren.

Funeral services are at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2012, at Calvary Baptist Church in Clovis, New Mexico with Rev. Marshall Fair and Gary Mitchell officiating. Casket bearers are Virginias grandsons James Love, John Love, Steve Strickland, Dave Strickland, Mike Strickland, Justus Strickland and Jace Strickland. Interment will follow at Lawn Haven Cemetery in Clovis, New Mexico.

Virginia signed all her personal letters and cards, I love you, and better yet, God loves you.
