Virginia Pearl Palmer Teakell, 90, went to be with her heavenly Father on March 7, 2018, after a brief illness. She was born on May 26, 1927, to Garnett and Galiel Palmer in La Junta, Colorado. She was the second oldest of nine children. The family moved to California, where her father pastored several Pilgrim Holiness churches.
When she was in high school, she was introduced to Lester Teakell, and they were married shortly after she graduated. Soon after, they moved to Portales, NM where Garnett and Cathie were born. They later moved to Clovis, where Phil and Debbie were born, and the family lived in houses he built there for the next fifty years.
Lester and Virginia were members of the First Church of the Nazarene in Clovis beginning in 1948 until their deaths. The church was a major part of their lives, and they served in different capacities over the years, making sure their four children were in church and attended Nazarene colleges. Virginia worked in administration at Retirement Ranch in Clovis from 1966 until 1996. Her hobbies were painting, crafts, cooking and reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lester, parents Garnett and Galiel Palmer, two sisters, Evelyn and Marilyn, two brothers, Norman and Paul. She is survived by son Garnett Teakell and daughter Cathie Tucker (Mike) of Norman, OK, son Phil Teakell (Linda) of Conner, MT, daughter Debbie Stone (Carlous) of Fort Worth, TX, 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and her siblings, Warren Palmer, Don Palmer, Marcy Wheeler, and Betty Alkire.
The family will greet friends and family for a brief visitation at Steed Todd Funeral Home on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 10:00am. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 am at Lawn Haven Memorial Garden Cemetery.
