Wanda Williams Horton
Wanda Williams Horton of Clovis, NM passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Retirement Ranch in Clovis, NM.
Wanda is survived by daughter, Nancy Dewey Long of Lavon, TX son, Larry Gail Horton of Amarillo, TX grandchildren Ashleigh Long Dewey Lee Long, III Rachel Danny Brown Stephen Horton Anthony Wilson, Bobby Horton, Jeffery Horton ten greatgrandchildren her brotherinlaw Billy Neil Williams her sisterinlaw Naomi Williams, numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family as well as her lifelong friend, Earlene Edwards.
Wanda was born in Grady, NM on May 28, 1931 to Glen S. and Lillie Tunnell Williams. She graduated from Clovis High School and later received her Bachelors degree from Eastern New Mexico University. She taught History at Clovis High School, retiring after 19 years of service. Wanda loved traveling and the history behind it. She was blessed to be able to tour the world and share the things she saw and learned along the way with her students, family and friends. Wanda was also a lifelong member of Central Christian Church where, for many years, she led a weekly Ladies Bible Class and served in several capacities.
Preceding her in death were her parents brothers, Charles J. Williams, James R. Williams, Jack A. Williams sisters, Jo Ann Williams and Glenda Williams Blackwell.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Central Christian Church in Clovis with Lanny Hemmings, officiating. Cremation has taken place.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the New Mexico Christian Childrens Home 324 S. Abilene Ave, Portales, New Mexico 88130.
