Waneta Olsen

Waneta Bryce Olsen, 89, of Clovis, NM died Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Plains Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday June 8, 2011 at Central Baptist Church with Pastors Steve Olsen of Bellville, Texas and Alan McAlister of Central Baptist officiating. Private burial will precede the memorial service. Casket bearers will be Bobby Olsen, Rich Whitt, Steve Olsen, Brandt Brown, Bryan Elliott, Brent Elliott, Ryan Olsen and Geoffrey Olsen. Honorary casket bearers are Gary Zolzer, Clifford Johnson and Dr. Sahay.

The family will receive visitors at SteedTodd Funeral Home, 800 E. Manana in Clovis, 6:008:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 7.

Bryce was born October 23, 1921 to William Bryan and Violet Lucille George in Tulia, Texas. Bryce was a graduate of Amarillo High School, and married Robert F. Bob Olsen in San Jon, New Mexico on April 25, 1939. The couple subsequently resided in Amarillo and Buffalo Gap, Texas, then moved to Clovis in August of 1956. Bryce was a member of Central Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, an accomplished cook and seamstress. She worked for several years in sales at JC Penneys and Singleterry Hardware and Gift Shop.

Survivors include four sons, Robert Eileen Olsen of Schoolcraft, MI Jim Sherry Olsen of Richardson, Texas Dennis Roni Olsen of Coweta, Oklahoma, and Michael Olsen of Garland, Texas one daughter Cheryl Elliott Gary of Clovis, New Mexico nine grandchildren 16 greatgrandchildren and six greatgreat grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, and one grandson, Scott Olsen.
