Wendell Jones

James Wendell Jones, 63, of Clovis, NM entered into the gates of Heaven on March 10, 2018 in Clovis. He was born on March 16, 1954 to Jesse and Charlotte "Lottie" Barris Jones in Sweet Home, Oregon.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Jesse and Lottie Jones; sisters, Laura Tate of Clovis, NM and Mary Miller of Buckeye, AZ. He is survived by his daughters, Sara (Jonathan) Hinshaw of Loganville, GA and Amanda (Chris) Newton of Anderson, SC; sister, Glenda (David) Johns of Clovis, NM; nephew, Kyle Brown of Clovis, NM; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Wendell was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan!!! He also studied with Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness. Wendell graduated from Clovis High School with the class of 1972. After receiving his Associates Degree in business administration from Eastern New Mexico University, Wendell returned to Clovis. He spent 5 years with Holland's Clovis Office Equipment before beginning a career with the Clovis News Journal. After demonstrating great management skills as well as natural sales ability, he was appointed as Advertising Director for the Clovis News Journal. This was the beginning of a long and successful career in sales and advertising. He left Clovis News Journal to continue his career with the Thrifty Nickel.

He temporarily relocated to Douglasville, GA but Clovis was always home for Wendell. Upon his return to Clovis in 2005, he returned to the Clovis News Journal until accepting another position with the Thrifty Nickel.

Wendell's personality and dedication to his craft allowed him to make countless friends throughout the entire community. He was deeply loved and touched many lives with his kind soul. He will be greatly missed by his family, his friends and the innumerable members of the Clovis community that had the pleasure of knowing him.

By his wishes, he was an organ donor and will be cremated. His ashes will be placed at his mother's feet in Clovis. A memorial service will be held on April 24, 2018, 11:00am at Steed Todd Funeral Chapel.

In honor of Wendell's love of all things blue and all things Cowboys, we ask that anyone attending his memorial to wear blue or Dallas Cowboys attire.
