Willie Roberts

Services for W.M. Roberts age 98 of Clovis, New Mexico will be held Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. CST at the First Baptist Church in Farwell, Texas with Kyle Clayton officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Terrace in Farwell. Mr. Roberts was born November 11, 1909 in Jones County, Texas to John Arthur and Mary Arabelle Jones Roberts. He passed away on Monday, October 6, 2008 at the Muleshoe Area Medical Center in Muleshoe, Texas. Mr. Roberts married Leatha Joe Jones September 12, 1931 in Quanah, Texas. She preceded him in death in 1985. He married Nancy Burch on February 18, 1989 in Farwell, Texas. W.M received his Bachelors Degree from North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. He received his Masters Degree from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico. He taught in numerous schools starting his teaching career at the age of eighteen in Wylie, Texas. He went on to become a Principal and later Superintendent for numerous public schools in Texas. He became the Superintendent in the Farwell School District in 1959 and was there for 24 years. He was a Charter Member of the First Baptist Church in Farwell, a member of the Lions Club in Farwell, and a member of the Texas Association of School Administrators.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Roberts of Clovis; one son Charles Roberts and his wife Lilia of Ft. Stockton, Texas; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by his son James Kent Roberts, his parents, and twelve brothers and sisters. Arrangements are under the direction of Steed Todd Funeral Home 800 E.
