Willy Andrews, age 90, of Melrose, NM, passed away May 13, 2012, at Palliative Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, TX.
Willy was born February 16, 1922, in Wellington, TX, moving to Melrose in 1928. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Melrose. He was married to Bobbie Long on August 25, 1951. They celebrated 59 years together.
Willy was a farmer and he was very active in the community visiting those who were sick. His passion was playing music and played at several nursing homes. He was a member of the Blue Grass Band.
Willy is survived by two sisters, Betty Jo Reece, Visalia, CA and Eula Mae Morey, Roswell, NM one brotherinlaw Arthur Long, Wolfforth, TX two sistersinlaw Ruth Fair and husband Loa Jinnie Bell and husband Lee. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his kids from Melrose. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Monday, May 21, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Melrose, NM with Brother Loa Fair officiating and Brother Durward Wofford assisting. Pallbearers are Joe Bill Montgomery, Billy Hollaway, Gary Hollaway, Danny Burdine, Keith Long, Wayne Ritter, and Wayne Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are John Long, Grady Bright and the Blue Grass Band.
