Wilma Hughes, 82, of Farwell, Texas, died Thursday, September 4, 2008, at BSA Hospice in Amarillo, Texas. She was born September 2, 1926, in Hollene, New Mexico to Joseph Mary Lillian Osborn Clark.
She lived and was raised all her life in the Hollene Community and graduated from Rosedale High School. She married H. L. Hughes November 22, 1943, in Clovis, New Mexico. She farmed with her husband in the Hollene Community. She loved to cook and sew and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Farwell Church of Christ in Farwell, Texas.
She is survived by her son, Lynn Hughes Jo of Texico, New Mexico; 2 daughters, Peggy Burnett of Muleshoe, Texas and Jackie Sameck Roger of Huntsville, Alabama; 1 brother, Joe Clark Marilyn of Clovis; 3 granddaughters, Melissa Forti of Mesa, Arizona, Jamie Newton Dave of Atlanta, Georgia and Hannah Hughes of Texico; 2 grandsons, Hunter Hayden Hughes of Texico; 3 great grandchildren, Mitchell Forti of Tempe, Arizona, Draper Avery Newton of Atlanta, Georgia; 2 sister-in-laws, Reba Mollindo of Mesa, Arizona and Jolly McKinley of Grants, New Mexico and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and 1 brother, Marion and 1 sister, Billie Southward.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. CDT, Monday, September 8, 2008, at Farwell Church of Christ with Phillip Steyn and Don Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Garden in Clovis, New Mexico.
Casket bearers will be Dewane Fryar, Keith Glaze, Leon Smith, Jerry Powell, Mark Osborn and Doyle Duncan.
