Winnie Bell

Winnie Bell, 100, of Lubbock, Texas, formerly of Clovis, died Sunday, March 8, 2009, at Hospitality House in Lubbock. She was born May 7, 1908, in Hamlin, Texas to James Gillie Dickerson Mitchell.

She was a longtime resident of the Clovis area and taught school at Blacktower and Ranchvale. She married E. D. Razz Bell. She also helped in the family store on Main Street, Bells Mens Store. She was a devoted member of Advent Christian Church.

Grandma was one of the most devoted Christian women you could ever meet. She never spoke an unkind word and never met a stranger that she didnt befriend. Grandma always welcomed everyone into her home and heart with open arms; a mother and mentor to many. Grandma was a loving and caring woman that will be missed by all. God is with the work she has done.

She is survived by one son, Willie Bell of Lubbock; 3 grandchildren, Phillip Bell Kim of Arkansas, Bethany Sours Del of Clovis and Robin Stehl of Colorado; 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; 1 foster daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Bill Mitchell; 2 foster grandchildren, Monica Justus Ric and Jessica Cockrell Derek all of Clovis; 4 foster great grandchildren and 1 sister-in-law, Pearl Mitchell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 3 brothers, Lee, Dewey Woodrow and 1 sister, Lula Johnson.

Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Advent Christian Church with a service to follow at 6:30 with Greg Martin officiating. Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Advent Christian Church, 2101 E. 21st, Clovis, New Mexico 88101.
