W.L. Pierce

W. L. Happy Pierce, age 71, of Clovis, N.M., died on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at his home in Clovis. He was born October 2, 1939 to A.E. Pete and Ruby Pierce in Clovis, New Mexico.

He was raised in Melrose and was a graduate of the class of 1957. He married Carol Sue Shumate on May 30, 1959, in Melrose. He began his career in Melrose as the owneroperator of Melrose Gas and Oil and later retired from PNM Gas Company in Clovis. Hap was a member of Central Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patsy Bolton.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol son, Weston Linda daughter, Peggy and one granddaughter, Erin. He is also survived by one brother, Ted Pierce Wanda and one sister, Judy Domer Tom.

Memorial services celebrating Haps life will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, July 2, 2011, at Central Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Eberhardt officiating and Charlie Stockton assisting.

In lieu of flowers the family requests any memorial contributions be made to Hope Lodge, 3511 10th Street, Lubbock, Texas, 79415.
