Zelda Regina LeavellebrbrMay 12, 1917 - April 14, 2005brbrZelda Regina Edwards Patterson Leavelle was bom in Callahan, Texas, May 12, 1917 to J Murray and Ima Edwards. She died at the age of 87 years on April 14, 2005. brbrWhen Zelda was six months old she moved with her parents and an older brother, Robert Clifton, to a homestead farm at Ruth, New Mexico. She attended school in a two room school house tmtil her family moved to Clovis, New Mexico, where Zelda attended high school. She graduated from Clovis High School in 1934 and married Roy Thomas Patterson June 2 of that year. To this union were bom four children, Shirley Regina, Bobbie Ruth, Glennis Carolyn and Rita Joan.brbrZelda and Roy moved to Colorado in 1948. They purchased a farm close to Bovina. They were very proud of their new home. In addition to developing their new farm they were immersed in the community and their church. They became leaders in the local 4-H club where Zelda taught many young ladies how to cook, sew, and garden. Unfortunately Roy died January 6, 1957 and Zelda sold the farm and moved back to New Mexico to be close to her family.brbrShe worked as a dispatcher for the Clovis Police Department while she was attending business school. After completing school she took a job as a billing clerk for Farmers Electric Cooperative. Zelda married W. A. Bill Leavelle in 1964 and became Momzelle to a new family. Bill and Zelda traveled extensively, enjoying visits with extended family and friends across the lower 48. Upon Bill's death January, 2000 she moved to Corvallis, Oregon to live with her daughter and son-inlaw Bobbie and Will Holsberry.brbrZelda's hobbies included painting in water color, acrylic and oils. She excelled at sewing, crocheting, knitting,and gardening. She delighted in spending time with her family and church. She was a member of the Baptist church until the age of 18 and a member of the Methodist Church for 68 years.brbrIn addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Shirley Regina, her brother Robert Clifton Edwards, sistersin law, Janie Gray, Rosetta Stalcup, and Gladys Patterson, and brothers-in-laws Cecil Glidewell, Eugene Locknane, Stacy Stalcup, Bernard Patterson, and Jack Kelley and son-in-law, Joe Clancy.brbrShe is survived by sisters, June Locknane, Clovis, NM, Pearl Glidewell, Scottsdale, AZ, brother, Murray Pat Edwards, Lakeland, FL and daughters, Bobbie Will Holsberry, Corvallis, OR, Carolyn Lew Mengle, Lititz, PA, Rita Wayne Mitchell, Rowlett, TX. She is also survived by step-children, Katie Ralph Lines; Long Beach, CA, BobbieJerry Widner, Las Cruces, NM, Bill AmyLeavelle, Sequim, WA, Jeanie O.B. Coffey,brRuidoso, NM, and Donnie Leavelle, FL along with 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.brbrThis great lady brought joy to everyone she met and will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 20 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Clovis, New Mexico with Rev. Wayne Salguero officiating. brbrArrangements are being handled by Steed-Todd Funeral Home and visitation by friends and family will be Tuesday until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at Lawn Haven MemorialbrGardens. A memorial service will also be held at a later date at First United Methodist Church in Corvallis, Oregon. Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice, Trinity United Methodist Church, Clovis, New Mexico or First United Methodist Church, Corvallis, Oregon.
