Zola was born December 22, 1921 to James R. and Mabel Hamlett. She passed away at Clovis Health and Rehab Care Facility on September 6, 2014. Zola married Gerald Jackson Canada on March 8, 1941 in Portales, NM. After moving to Clovis, Jerry and Zola joined First Christian Church. Zola taught the second graders in Sunday school for 4 years. She served as president of The Womens Council for two terms. Zola and Jerry sang in the adult choir faithfully for many years. She served on the Bereavement Committee and the Fellowship Committee for many years also. They were instrumental in decorating the church for both Easter and Christmas. She was the secretary for the Sunshine Class for many years. Zola worked for F.W. Woolworth for 12 years and for Skeen Cleaners for another 12 years.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, son Jack Canada, one brother Bernard Hamlett of Lovington, one sister Chris Luce of Sallisaw, Oklahoma and her parents James R. and Mabel Hamlett. She is survived by one brother Truman Hamlett and wife Stella of Oklahoma, and one granddaughter Marissa Canada of Austin, Texas.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday, September 8, 2014 from 1 to 7 p.m. at SteedTodd Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, with Ron Eggleton and John Forrest officiating.
