Billie Pennington

Billie John Bill Pennington, 90, formerly of Farwell, Texas, died on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in Houston, Texas. He was born at home in Wood County, Winnsboro, Texas on May 19, 1924, to William Allen Pennington and Nancy Clifford Shearer Pennington.

Mr. Pennington was married to Bernice McIntire Pennington on July 25, 1946. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a former POW of WWII. He loved his country, his family and his church. He served as an usher and greeter at First Baptist Church of Farwell for many years. He had a lifelong passion for fishing, enjoyed talking with friends, and loved spending time with family and his beloved dogs, Molly and Cookie.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice of Houston, TX daughter Sharon Rountree and husband Richard of Ft. Worth, TX daughter Mary Ann Stewart and husband Randall of Houston, TX sister Louise Duffey of Pittsburg, TX grandchildren, Marla Cook and husband Matt of Highlands Ranch, Colorado Melissa Diesburg and husband David of Williamsburg, Virginia Aaron Stewart and wife Karen, of Spring, TX Joshua Stewart and wife Lacey, of Katy, TX. Great nephew, Christopher Lusby and wife Melissa of Pearland, TX great grandchildren Megan, McKenna, and Eric Cook Victoria and Davin Diesburg Nathan, Ryan and Lela Stewart Gavin and Titus Stewart Benjamin and Bailee Lusby, and many other family members and friends.

The funeral service will be held Monday, December 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Farwell, TX, followed by burial at Portales Cemetery in Portales, New Mexico. Visitation will be at Steed Todd Funeral Home Sunday evening, December 21, from 6:008:00 p.m.
