Caroline Aulana Anderson 93 was called home by her Savior on Dec. 5. Steed Todd Funeral Home will conduct her funeral at the First Baptist Church in Farwell, TX on Tuesday, December 9 at 10am. A viewing will be held Monday, December 8 from 128pm at the Steed Todd Funeral Home.
She was born April 23, 1921, in Purcell, Oklahoma, to Ira Scott and Jessie Levins.
Carrie Lane was a student at the University of Oklahoma on Dec. 7, 1941, when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and the United States entered World War Two. She immediately withdrew from the University and joined the Womens Army Auxiliary Corps WAAC, serving as a First Lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps in Boston, Massachusetts, for the duration of the war.
She left the Army and moved to Farwell in 1946, where her parents had moved, and worked as a legal secretary for the Aldridge and Aldridge Law Firm. She met Robert William Anderson when he returned from his service with the Armys 82nd Airborne in France the same year. They were married in 1949.
Her life was filled with service to her family and friends, notably traveling to Austin, New York City, and Washington DC as secretary of the Farwell Hospital Board to ensure the construction of the Farwell Convalescent Center. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the School Board, a director of the Security State Bank, and the PEO service sorority. She was Farwells Woman of the year in 1978.
Carrie Lane returned to her studies in 1978, attending Clovis Community College and earning her degree as a Registered Nurse, working for years thereafter at the Clovis Methodist Hospital. She also obtained her private pilots license. She particularly loved to travel with her husband, Bob, to Europe, South America, the Pacific, and her favorite destination, the Holy Land of Israel.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, her parents, her brother Scott Levins, her daughter, Meredith, and her greatgrandson, Henry Farmer.
She is survived by her husband, Bob her sister, Susan Miller of Arizona her sons, Bob Scott and wife Carolyn of Missouri, and Will and wife Ginger of Farwell her daughter, Caroline and husband Bill Lewis of Richardson two nephews and four nieces seven grandchildren, and 15 greatgrandchildren.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of SteedTodd Funeral Home and Crematory, 800 E Manana Blvd, Clovis, New Mexico 575 7635541.
